Christmas 2007

You can't have any privacy in this house. I was trying very hard to bury my bone I now I see it was being filmed all along. What is a poor terrier to do?

LET IT SNOW! LET IT SNOW!

Well winter has hit at my house! Today I woke up to a little bit of snow. I was a little unsure of this stuff when I first went out the door - but after that first step outside it was a blast.

I had a great playing catch with the guys. I wish those snowballs wouldn't fall apart though!

Back to school

The dark days of fall close in around me. Fortunately, I was able to convince the guys to come to the dog park with me for one last good romp before school starts.

Well, I guess I better hit the hay and get a good night sleep because it's back to school eve! Wish me luck (and let's hope the guys learn something this time about being a dog!).

Stay tuned!!!!!!

Getting over it

It has been over 6 weeks since they sent me into the vet and l left me there! I am finally over it and can write about it. Yes - I am talking about the day they took me in for "the SURGERY"

And let me tell you ... neutering is not as much fun as it sounds!!!!!!!!

I think the photo tells it all!

I don't know which was worse ... having to wear this cone, or the guys hooking me up to the TV just so they can get free satellite instead of paying for cable. However, I hear the reception was great!

Graduation - better late than never

I have reminded the guys to post my Puppy School Graduation information for almost a month now. All I heard was excuses. So finally I sat them down and threatened to pull my stitches out (more on THAT later!) if they did not post it.So as you can see, I have successfully completed my puppy education. Below is my report card.

Tooth Fairy

I hate to break it to everyone out there, but I am seriously doubting the tooth fairy exists. I lost my first puppy canine tooth and, of course, put it under my sleeping blanket. Next morning - nothing. Bupkiss. Nada. Zilch.
I have decided to keep these other 3 teeth just in case I am able to find out their value on the lost tooth market, or until that supposed "tooth fairy " comes crawling back - then she and I will negotiate!!

Road trip 2007

Rick and Bob (the Guys) and I went on a road trip for a couple of days. It was a good chance to see if I can travel well with them, and it turns out they aren't that bad. We all got up at 3 am, which I question, and then we drove onto this strange sounding metal thing they say is a ferry that went out over the water. I think they were a bit scared, as they sat in the car with me for most of the time. When they went to eat, I could finally nap, because I wasn't scared at all! This is me on the ferry. Not much to look at from what I could tell.

We went to a place called Nanaimo. This is a park we stopped at for me to explore.

There was lots of water....

...and there is always time for Tim Hortons!!!

Time for a nap in the car as the Guys drive me down to Victoria. Nobody took me up on my offer to do some of the driving.

Here I at Beacon Hill Park in Victoria. There were a lot of other dogs for me to have a "meet and greet". The Guys were grumbling about other people not keeping the dogs on leashes like they are supposed to, so I was proud to be wearing my leash.

We went down to the water, and I was a brave boy when it came to going into the waves. Honest. You will just have to take my word for it.

I found a big, long, slimy "stick" to take with me as a souvenir, but I wasn't allowed to bring it home. Honestly, some times I just don't get humans at all!!

We checked into a hotel, which was nice, but didn't have a yard for me to run around in. I will be sure to suggest that the Guys try harder next time. Rick, Lambie and I had a quick, pick me up nap.

Supper was a take-out pizza that was eaten while watching a cricket match. The Guys were not much help in explaining the game to me, but I did get the chance to almost retrieve one of the balls that was hit my way. I don't think they want dogs playing cricket. Their loss. The pizza was good!!

Here is someone doing something to a very unhappy cat. Stangely enough, the sound kind of stirred something deep in my soul. Perhaps the music of a long ago ancestral calling. Perhaps the loneliness of some barren Irish landscape filled with a lone, haunting refrain. Or, it could have been the pizza acting up. Whatever it was, it was better than the french horn player on the causeway who tried to shorten my life by blasting her horn just as I was passing.

And so....to bed.

We walked around the downtown of Victoria all morning, visiting shops and seeing the sights. Lunch was at the Irish Times, named in my honour, I assume. The people there were nice enough, although they insisted on caging the Guys while they ate. I got to visit with all the people who passed by, and they were all very nice and complimentary, although none of them brought any treats. Pity.
Like any visitor, I had to have tea at the Empress - oh, sorry, I actually had a pee at the Empress. The Guys each went into the hotel as well for a few minutes. I wonder if they had tea, or if they were following my lead. I have an opinion that I will keep to myself.

Our final stop before heading home on the ferry. It is called Roger's Chocolate, and it must hold some magical spell over the Guys as they disappeared into it every time we passed it. Seemed to me that sometimes they intentionally went there. Whatever its hold over them, they seemed happy, but not willing to share, saying something about my own good. I guess I am flattered.

I can't wait for the next road trip. It was great!

Building in my neighbourhood

I have been very busy the last few days. I have spent the time on guard to protect my house and yard.

You ask - what are you protecting the house from. Look at this picture and that will tell you why I have to be on guard!

First it was the trees coming down next door, now it is all this construction getting the roads, lanes and services into the empty lot next door.

So I guess this will be my post for the next little while!!

Puppy Class

Puppy class is going well. I go every Monday afternoon to the local PetSmart store. The training takes place in the middle of the store. In my class there are 3 other dogs, a labrador, a border collie cross and a maltese. I have not seen the maltese at class and the border collie has only been to one class. Java the labrador has only been to two classes so far. Yes - that means often I get the instructor all to my self! It sounds great but it is kind of boring when you don't get to practise the skills with other dogs to distract you. Hopefully they will show up to class next week or I will move to another class with lots of other dogs.

I am half way through the program and IF the instructor gave out report cards, mine would probably look like this:

As you can see, I really don't like the drop it and leave it. If it is on the ground, near or in my mouth it is mine! I don't see why this is such a hard concept for those humans!! Still a dog has to do what a dog has to do. I humour them by appearing to be obedient.

My trip to the seaside

The other night, we made a trip to the seaside. It is about a 30 minute drive from my house. First we went to the Blackie Spit off leash park. Here I had a great time playing with a bunch of different dogs. I was the littlest and the youngest. It didn't matter, we all had a great time.

After a while, we left the park and walked a little ways to the ocean. The City of Surrey has an off leash area fenced off for dogs to play in the ocean. I must say, my first exposure to the ocean was not pleasant. The water was a little cold. Rick and Bob kept throwing my stick into the water and I had to go in and get it. Luckily I could keep my feet on the solid ground. I didn't want to go beyond this.

Here are a few photos of my first trip to the ocean.

Supervising the construction

My yard became a construction site over the weekend.
Publish Post

My job was to supervise. Like all supervisors, I had a very tough job.

The job is done!

Got nose?

My plan to remove Rick's nose is not going as well as I had hoped, despite repeated valiant efforts on my part. He seems like a nice enough fellow, but that nose.....that nose.......I.....just.....can't..........resist!!!!!!"
And finally - I got a piece of it!

Catching up!

I have been busy getting used to the routines of the house that I have completely forgotten about posting to the blog. I will make sure that Rick or Bob will provide me with access to the computer on a more regular basis.

First off, I really like it here. This house is awesome (totally!!!!!). I have lots of toys to play with, a yard to run around and of course a great neighbourhood for walks.

This picture is one of the first that Rick and Bob took of me. We stopped at the park in Keremeos (near where I was born) http://www.keremeos.net/. This is a very short drive from where I was born at Mary and Ken Lewis' house. (Irish Terriers of Kenwood).

This is me exploring my yard. I forgot how small I was.

And this is me this week. I am much bigger and more mature looking. I will get about double this size when I am full grown.

I will leave the update for now. Stay tuned to hear about my going to puppy school!
